John Praveen, PhD is Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist of Prudential International Investments, a unit of U.S. based Prudential Financial, Inc. John joined Prudential in October 2004.

He leads the Prudential International Investments Advisers (PIIA) team which undertakes financial market and macroeconomic research, generates outlook and forecasts and formulates investment strategy.

John has more than 30 years of experience in both the buy-side and sell-side of Wall Street and in the academic world. Prior to joining Prudential in 2004, he was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management and worked both in London (1998 to 2003) and New York (1997-98 & 2003-04).

Earlier, Mr. Praveen was Vice-President and Senior Global Economist at Merrill Lynch, New York from 1994 to 1997. Before moving to Wall Street, Mr. Praveen was a tenured professor of economics and finance at Montclair State University, New Jersey (1989-94) and adjunct professor of finance at New Jersey Institute of Technology. He also taught economics at California State University, Fullerton (1987-89) and Kakatiya University in India (1976-81).

John holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.A. and M. Phil degrees in Economics from Osmania University, India.
